Build and publish a website with Claude

Step by step from idea to your own domain: Claude builds the site, VORREN puts it online. No server, no terminal.

Updated on

Claude writes a decent-looking website in a few minutes. But before it's reachable at your own domain, you usually still need hosting, upload, HTTPS and DNS. This guide shows the whole way, using Claude Desktop and VORREN as the example.

What you need

  • Claude Desktop (or Claude Code). Custom connectors work on all plans; on the free plan you get one custom connector.
  • A VORREN account. You build your first project for free as a preview. To go live you need slots (5 for €39 a month, more in packs of 5), plus each website costs €9 a month while it's live.
  • Your own domain for the live site, with a provider of your choice. You don't need one for the preview.
  • Your content: text, images, logo, contact details. The more of it is real, the better the first draft.

Step 1: Connect Claude to VORREN

You do this once, and it takes about two minutes:

  1. In Claude Desktop, open Customize > Connectors, choose + Add and then Add custom connector.
  2. Enter VORREN as the name and https://mcp.vorren.de/mcp as the address, click Continue, choose Sign in now.
  3. Sign in to VORREN in your browser and grant access.
  4. In a conversation, turn on VORREN via + and Connectors at the bottom left.

With Claude Code, it's one command in the terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http vorren https://mcp.vorren.de/mcp

Step 2: Describe the site

Tell Claude what you want, the way you'd tell an agency. An example:

"Build me a site for my carpentry shop in Freiburg: services (custom furniture, interior fit-out, repairs), a few references, opening hours and a call button. Calm, lots of wood, no gradients. Put it online as a preview."

Claude fetches VORREN's guidelines, picks a suitable template and builds the first version. A few follow-up questions are normal; VORREN asks the agent not to ask more than it needs to.

Step 3: Look at the preview and improve it

After the first round, you get a preview address. Open it on your phone and on your computer. Then say what should change:

"Make the headline shorter, use a dark green instead of gray, and put the references before the opening hours."

Every preview is its own version. So you can't break anything: an older version is back with one sentence.

If no one but your clients should see the preview yet, turn on password protection in the dashboard.

Step 4: Legal notice and privacy policy

Every new site comes with placeholders for the legal notice (Impressum) and the privacy policy. You have to fill them in, because only you know the details. Tell Claude: "Fill in the legal notice and privacy policy," and it will ask you for what's needed. You should still check the result yourself; neither Claude nor VORREN replaces legal advice.

Step 5: Connect your own domain

This only works in the VORREN dashboard, not through the agent:

  1. Enter your domain under Domains.
  2. Set the DNS records shown there at your domain provider.
  3. Have them checked. As soon as the records are correct, VORREN gets the HTTPS certificate automatically.

How long it takes until new DNS records are known everywhere depends on the provider.

Step 6: Go live

Tell Claude: "Put the site live." Claude asks you once more first; only after your yes does the version go online at your domain. Later you change the site the same way: describe, look at the preview, go live.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code? No. You talk to Claude; Claude and VORREN take care of code, build and servers.

Can I host the site somewhere else later? Yes. Your site's code belongs to you; with Claude Code it's in a folder on your computer anyway.

What if Claude builds something wrong? VORREN checks every version before a preview is created and tells Claude exactly what to change. If you don't like the result, you go back to an earlier version.
