Publish a website from Claude Code
Claude Code builds the site in your folder, VORREN puts it online. Connect, first prompt, preview, live, in a few steps.
With Claude Code, your website lives as a folder on your computer: you see every file, can manage it with Git and keep the code. What's missing is the way onto the web. VORREN handles that: Claude Code sends the files, VORREN builds them, puts a preview online and, if you want, goes live at your domain.
What you need
- Claude Code on your computer, in the terminal or in the desktop app.
- A VORREN account. You build your first project for free as a preview. To go live you need slots; each website costs €9 a month while it's live (Pricing).
- An empty folder for the site, or a folder with a site that already exists.
Step 1: Connect VORREN
In the terminal, once:
claude mcp add --transport http vorren https://mcp.vorren.de/mcpThen start Claude Code and type /mcp. If VORREN shows "needs authentication", choose Authenticate. In your browser, sign in to VORREN and grant access. Make sure you're signed in there with the same account the site should be created in.
Step 2: Turn off the prompts
Claude Code asks before each new tool whether it may use it. The first time, choose Yes, and don't ask again, or allow all VORREN tools at once with this entry in ~/.claude/settings.json:
{ "permissions": { "allow": ["mcp__vorren"] } }This is safe: deleting projects and your account, connecting domains and setting secret values only work in the dashboard, and your agent only goes live when you explicitly say so.
Step 3: The first prompt
Go into the site's folder and say what you want, for example:
Claude Code fetches the guidelines and a suitable template from VORREN, creates the files in your folder and adapts them. To upload, it packs the changed files into an archive and sends it straight to VORREN; images go to the media server. VORREN then checks the version, builds it and puts the preview online.
Along the way, VORREN reminds the agent that the legal notice (Impressum) and privacy policy are still placeholders. Claude Code asks you for the details before the site goes live.
Step 4: Look at the preview and change it
Claude Code gives you the preview address. Look at it on your phone and computer and say what should change. Every preview is its own version; you bring back an older one with one sentence. Because the files are on your machine, you can also change something yourself and ask Claude Code to upload the new version.
Step 5: Domain and going live
You connect your domain in the dashboard under Domains; which records to set is in the guide Connect your own domain to your AI-built website. Then you say: "Publish the site." If going live costs something, you confirm it once in the dashboard the first time.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Git? No. VORREN keeps the versions itself. You can still use Git for your folder.
Do I have to write a Dockerfile or a server configuration? No, and Claude Code shouldn't either. VORREN sets up server, build and HTTPS itself and rejects such files with a note.
Do I have to build the site myself? No, VORREN builds it on the server. Claude Code is happy to build it on your computer first to catch errors early; that needs Node.js 22.12 or newer. With an older version, the build on your computer fails, but the preview on VORREN still works.
What if the build fails? VORREN sends Claude Code the last lines of the build log with a note on what to change. That lets Claude Code fix the error itself and try again.
